LRT3 Signing Ceremony between Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, MRCB George Kent Sdn Bhd and CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co Ltd – Siemens Limited China – Tegap Dinamik Sdn Bhd consortium

On 2 August 2017, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), MRCB George Kent Sdn Bhd (MRCBGK) and the CRRC Zhuhou Locomotive Co Ltd (CRRC ZELC) – Siemens Limited China – Tegap Dinamik Sdn Bhd consortium held a ceremony on the signing of the LRT3 Light Rail Vehicles (LRV) work package. The event was attended by Mr. Huang Huikang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia; Tan Sri Ismail Adam, Chairman, Prasarana Group; Dato’ Sri Azmi Abdul Aziz, Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Prasarana; Mr. Ong Gin Lip, Project Director, MRCBGK; Mr. Liu Hualong, Chairman, CRRC Corporation Limited; Mr. Lothar Herrmann, President and Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Limited China and Mr. Ahmad Lazri bin Long Ahmad, Managing Director, Tegap Dinamik Sdn Bhd. LRT3 Public Information Update

From 10th April 2017 till 23rd April 2017, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) and MRCB George Kent Sdn Bhd (MRCBGK) held the LRT3’s Public Information Update to inform members of the public on the final changes to the LRT3 stations and its alignment. The event was held at seven locations, namely at the Land and Public Transport Commission’s (SPAD) office; Kelana Square; CGC-Glenmarie LRT station; Giant hypermarket, Shah Alam; Klang Parade; Klang Municipal Council’s (MPK) office and AEON Bukit Tinggi.

Our booths at the seven locations was visited by 1347 members of the public. Relevant materials related to the alignment and station changes were prepared consisting of drawings of Plan and Profile, Site Station Context and the benefits of each locations, to ensure sufficient information exhibited to the public.

The changes involved Station 6, Station 7, Station 11, Station 19, Station 21 and Station 26.

Station 7’s proposed location was originally encroaching Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s (TNB) Transmission Main Intake (PMU) area. The new alignment has been shifted away from the TNB pylon to provide greater safety to the LRT3 commuters. The adjusted alignment will also avoid the relocation work of the existing TNB PMU and avoid utilities services disruption to the nearby commercial and residential areas.

Station 11 will be LRT3’s only underground station upon completion. The initial construction method for the underground section is the “Cut and Cover” method. Upon further studies, the construction method for Station 11 has been replaced with the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) method. The TBM method reduces the likelihood of encountering building foundations or otherwise damaging existing structures during construction. It also reduces disturbance to the surrounding soil, reduces ventilation requirements, improves personnel safety and results in faster working speed. The new construction method will also reduce the need for major traffic diversion and allows for the preservation of matured trees along Persiaran Hishamuddin.

Station 19’s location has been shifted 130 meters before Jalan Pulau Pinang 1 and the junction of Jalan Murai. The original proposed location was opposite the BHP gas station and on the junction of Jalan Kelicap 49.The new location of Station 19 will also have three entrances from the north and south bound of Jalan Meru to accommodate for more commuters within the area. It was also shifted away from the BHP petrol station in order to ensure the safety of the public within the area. As the new location is away from the road junction, inconvenience towards road users can be significantly reduced.

Station 21’s original alignment was encroaching into the Kuan Yin temple boundary, an area gazetted as a national heritage. The new alignment has been shifted to the slip road before Bulatan Simpang Lima to avoid any impact towards the heritage building and the area surrounding it. The new alignment location will also reduce the impact of traffic congestion to the road users.

Station 26 has been shifted from Jalan Klang Banting’s junction towards Jalan Langat to reduce traffic inconvenience to the road users. The new station location is also nearer to the multi-storey level carpark which provides ease and comfort to the commuters of LRT3. Additionally, the new location will allow provision for additional train entry access and exits to the LRT3’s depot where maintenance and service of the light rail vehicles will be carried out.

The two weeks event also received comments and feedback from the visitors.

LRT3’s “Painting The Rail Future” Art Contest Prize Giving Ceremony

On 4th February 2017, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) and MRCB George Kent Sdn Bhd (MRCBGK) held the prize giving ceremony for LRT3’s “Painting The Rail Future” art contest. The event was held at the Glenmarie LRT Station and was attended by, Dato’ Sri Azmi bin Abdul Aziz, President & Group CEO, Prasarana;Ybhg. Dato’ Sri Ir. Dr Judin bin Abdul Karim, Chairman, MRCBGK; Tuan Haji Khairani Mohamed, CEO, Prasarana Rail and Infrastructure Projects Sdn Bhd (PRAISE) and Mr.Ong Gin Lip, Project Director, MRCBGK.

An estimated 100 pax of guests arrived at the distinguished event, comprising of the 12 winners as well as their family members, Prasarana employees and members of the media. The launch begins with the sharing of the background of the “Painting The Rail Future” art contest, followed by a video presentation on the LRT3 project. The event was further celebrated by a welcome address by Dato’ Sri Azmi bin Abdul Aziz and the announcement of winners. The event ended with a group photography session.
