What is LRT 3?
The Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3) envisages to connect two million people between Bandar Utama and Klang by 2024. Developed in line with the Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley (GKL/KV) Land Public Transport Masterplan, LRT3 will be a key feature in extending rail connectivity to the Western Corridor of GKL/KV.
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) drives the transformation of Malaysia's public transport systems and services. Prasarana owns and operates the country's urban rail services that include three LRT networks and the KL Monorail, in addition to operating the MRT line.
Prasana also owns and operates the stage bus services in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Perak and Pahang. It also provides management and engineering consultancy services locally and abroad, undertakes commercial and transit-oriented development projects within its assets, as well as key public transport infrastructure projects in the country.
MRCB George Kent Sdn Bhd
MRCB George Kent Sdn Bhd (MRCB George Kent) was appointed by Prasarana Malaysia Bhd on 4 September 2015 as the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) to undertake the design and construction works of the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) project.
On 17 October 2018, the PDP model was replaced with a fixed price contract regime, making MRCB George Kent the contractor.
MRCB George Kent is a joint venture company between Bursa Malaysia listed Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) and George Kent (M) Bhd to specifically undertake the LRT3 project.
MRCB is currently the largest developer cum contractor of Transit Oriented Developments (TODs) in Malaysia, while George Kent is a leading engineering company and top home-grown railway system specialist in Malaysia.
